Teenage Dads: Lost In Space

Breakthrough Aussie indie rockers, Teenage Dads, have just released their highly anticipated EP MIDNIGHT DRIVING and it's wildly good. We're pumped in Aotearoa, because they're heading here this week to play in Auckland on Thursday April 13, Wellington on Friday April 14, and Christchurch on
April 15.

To prepare ourselves for these epic shows, asked the Dads if they all got lost in space with a record player, what are 5 albums they couldn't live without? They chose an album each and told us their joint fav (Banana Boat is a CLASSIC).

Album #1

Connor's #1: Remain in Light - Talking Heads

"There are so many moving parts that sound great together where each sound might sound odd on its own. Each time I listen to it I hear something I haven't heard before in terms of the production. A lot of the songs on the album end in this trance/chant type thing which piques my interest."

Album #2

Angus' #1: Making Mirrors - Gotye

"It is an album I always find myself coming back to. Aside from the obvious hits, it's pretty melancholic and I find it really easy to fall into and enjoy. He's got a lot of samples that are really uniquely integrated."

Album #3

Both Jordy and Vinnie's #1:
Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix - Phoenix

"There are songs on there for every mood. It's well crafted in it's structure. The production is timeless and super creative. It's incredibly coherent; all the songs feel like they belong together. The songs are so catchy but they don't get old. A great example of an indie pop/rock record."

Album #4

Our current fave album that we all listen to:
Calypso - Harry Belafonte

"Banana Boat is becoming a bit of a ritual for our band. The record is a real easy listen, you can enjoy it while cooking or getting gee'd up for a show (like us). The songs on here just make you smile!"

Teenage Dads: Playlist Picks

We asked the Dads if they could hook us up with their go-to Spotify playlist for an even deeper dive into inspirations and favourite songs. Enjoy!
