Sam Heselwood: Lost In Space

Sam Heselwood is a name you're going to want to remember. The rugby player turned songwriter is having crazy-big success, with his latest single 'Home' been spun on popular NZ stations ZM and The Edge, and added to Spotify playlists New Music Friday AU&NZ, Chilled Hits, Get Popped!, Winter Chills, The Local List Aotearoa and Lazy Sunday. Phew that's a list!

We wanted to know what inspires Sam and his brilliant songwriting, so asked him if he got lost in space with a record player, what are 5 albums he couldn't live without?

Album #1

Divide - Ed Sheeran

I feel like this Album has the perfect balance of, sad break up, happy love and upbeat dance songs to keep me going forever... Ed Sheeran is where it started for me, he's my G.O.A.T singer-songwriter!

Album #2

This Ones For You - Luke Combs

I'm a secret lover of country music and this album was the best thing to ever stumble in my playlists I could stare out the window with this on repeat and time would just pass by. It pretty much consists of all my favourite country's song's jammed into one album

Album #3

Continuum - John Mayer

I could never get sick of listing to this masterpiece. I believe John Mayer is one of the most talented musicians in the world and it just so happens that all my favourite songs of his are in one album

Album #4

All The Little Lights - Passenger

After 'Let Her Go' came out back in 2013, I listened to this album on repeat for the good part of 8 months. He has one of the most interesting voices I've ever listened to, I get so lost in the way he tells story's through his lyrics. This album got me through my first ever break up and would be one be a hell of an album to have up in space!

Album #5

In Between Dreams - Jack Johnson

This album makes lets me reminisce on road trips with my parents. It has such a free feel to it, kinda like you are floating on a cloud... I'm almost certain no one in history has ever put this album on and had a bad day afterwards

Sam Heselwood: Playlist Picks

We asked Sam if he could hook us up with his go-to Spotify playlist for an even deeper dive into his inspirations. He told us "that's a tough one! I'm one of those people that has a different playlist for every different mood... The one I use most at the moment would have to be my 'SÖLE' playlist". Enjoy :)
